Pyrotechnic Vulcano’s designer, Miguel Ángel Beltrán Sevilla, was elected winner of the 20th San Fermín Fireworks International Contest. His award-winner, “Ciudadela en Llamas” (Ciudadela on Fire), was shown the night of July 13th during the San Fermín Festival. The jury of San Fermín awarded the 5,000 Euro winner prize to the “Ciudadela en Llamas,” followed by Leopoldo Fernández Peñalver’s show, “Noche mágica en la Ciudadela” (Magic night at the Ciudadela), displayed on July 9th. The third place was awarded to Manuel Osuna Oliva’s “Zoloriscos,” presented on July 11th. Pamplona 2019 Bullfighters Announced

The Casa Misericordia has announced the assignment of bullfighters and bulls for the 2019 Feria del Toro de Pamplona. This year, the superstar bullfighter, Roca Rey, will appear two different evenings, July 10th and July 12th. Also announced, was the new poster for this year's feria. The names are in! The eight ranches that will be sending their best bulls to Pamplona for San Fermin have been announced.  The order has not been determined, but the Miura are often to run on the final day, July 14.  Bill Hillmann, a bull running expert, put together brief profiles on each ranch, which helps runners prepare themselves and choose their preferred day. Distinguished Berkeley Alum Recounts Running With the Bulls

Joe Garret, a legendary banker and respected alum of UC Berkeley shared his story in the Winter edition of the alumni magazine. Garret was reluctant to revisit Hemingway's work, but gave in to the impulse to read him again. This set in-motion a series of events that saw him running in the streets of Pamplona next to six toro bravos. Charity Running of the Bulls 5K in Jacksonville

The Arc Jacksonville is a non-profit organization, whose mission is, "to serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to achieve their full potential to participate in community life." To further that mission, the organization is hosting their 5th annual Running of the Bulls 5K on Feb 24, 2019. The "bulls" will be played by the Jacksonville RollerGirls, who will chase runners through a 5K and 1K race course.
